CARDIAC RISK IN THE YOUNG

I was delighted to attend an event in Westminster held by the charity, Cardiac Risk In The Young - CRY which works to reduce the frequency of young, sudden cardiac death. Twelve apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions every single week in the U.K. CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by young, sudden cardiac death. This charity also promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research, as well as publishing and distributing medical information written by leading cardiologists for the general public. In addition, CRY also funds specialist referral screening and cardiac pathology services at leading hospitals across the U.K. I was very interested to hear about the work of this important charity which is working very hard to raise awareness of this issue which should matter to us all.
