POPPY SCOTLAND
As expected this has been a month with many opportunities for us all to help promote Poppyscotland.
I was delighted to attend the launch of Poppyscotland 2018 and also to participate in the PoppyRide, cycling on a static bike for five minutes to raise awareness of this year’s Poppy Appeal. (I managed to cycle 2.35miles in 5 minutes).
The work of Poppy Scotland is so important to providing tailored support to HM Armed Forces Community in a whole range of areas.
This charity raises over £2m each year but it is hoped that this year, as we commemorate 100 years since the end of WWI, this figure will rise as we show our gratitude for all servicemen and women who have paid the ultimate price and sacrificed so much both in the past and in the present, to serve their country.
I also recently had the privilege, alongside other MPs, to welcome home members of the British Army from 55 countries to the Commons, whilst remembering those who, sadly, did not return.
Serving in our Armed Forces was and remains a dangerous and difficult job and we must continue to stand up for them, their families and veterans.
We Will Remember Them.
