ARRAN’S OCTOPUS CENTRE OFFICIAL OPENING
I was delighted to attend the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Isle of Arran’s Lamlash No Take Zone and the Official Opening of the Octopus Centre, Scotland’s very first Marine Protected Area visitor centre, led by the Arran community and Community of Arran Seabed Trust (COAST).
It was a very full afternoon with an open exhibition, music by Edinburgh Castle Chorus and Heather Macleod & Stuart Farrar, kayaking (with Arran Outdoor Education Centre), cake and refreshment, and an opportunity to catch up with Howard Wood, winner of the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize and Andrew Binnie.
COAST has indeed been at the forefront of groundbreaking efforts to promote sustainable marine management and it was a real pleasure to attend this special event.
