WIDOWED PARENTS ALLOWANCE

I have been raising the injustice of co-habiting parents being denied Bereavement Support Benefits since March 2017. Following the recent court ruling that co-habitees with children should have the same bereavement benefits as those who are married, I urged the UK Government Minister to apologise to all those bereaved parents who have chosen not to marry and who have suffered financial hardship as a result following the death of their partner. It is time for the UK Government to move quickly to ensure this injustice is retrospectively corrected for all those affected.
