SNP GOVERNMENT INVESTS IN NEXT GENERATION OF ENTREPRENEURS

Scottish National Party (SNP) The Scottish Government has announced an additional £650,000 funding package to support the next generation of entrepreneurs and encourage more people to set up new businesses or social enterprises.

Prince's Trust Scotland will receive £400,000 to strengthen and advance their Enterprise Programme, which provides a comprehensive range of employability and enterprise support for young people across Scotland.

The Enterprise Programme provides free, local information sessions and interactive workshops for people aged 18-30 who are interested in starting a business. Events cover everything from business planning and marketing to sales, budgeting and tax. There is also an online programme with videos and guidance to help young people get started in business at a pace and location that works for them.

Scotland’s Enterprising Schools, the national platform which provides education practitioners with support and ideas to help embed enterprise into school curriculums, will also receive £250,000 of funding.

Minister for Business, Fair Work and Skills Jamie Hepburn MSP said:

“We want Scotland to be a country that invents, designs and manufactures the technologies and products of the future, a world-leading entrepreneurial and innovative nation.

“Investing in entrepreneurial education will mean that Scotland will foster the next generations of Scottish entrepreneurs.”

Patricia Gibson MP added:

“Scotland is world-renowned for producing an incredible number of inventors and scientists who helped shaped modern society, from medical advances to technological transformation.

“Educating and encouraging the entrepreneurs of the future will cement Scotland’s reputation as a global leader in innovation, while simultaneously helping people of all backgrounds fulfil their potential.”
