SALTCOATS SEA QUEEN
I had a lovely day yesterday at the Saltcoats Sea Queen. The weather was glorious, in contrast to last year and the Royal Party were on top form throughout, in all their lovely finery.
It is 90 years since the very first Saltcoats Sea Queen and 2018 Queen, Afton Ceelan was very ably assisted by Captian Ciaran Thomson. The Ladies-in-Waiting were Mollie Lafferty, Skye Martin, Amy Scott with Buccaneers Callum McGoldrick, Leo Smith, Alistair Rolinson. The Crown Bearer was Paris McGhee. They all did a fantastic job and it was truly a proud day for all of them, as well as their mums, dads, grannies and other family members.
Big thanks from all on the day went to Scott Barrie, a fantastic Piper who piped the parade through the town, stepping up at the last moment to do so.
Big congratulations to all on the Saltcoats Gala Committee who have worked so hard again this year to put this whole event together so successfully. Special thanks must go to Maria Paterson-Kidd, all round wonder woman and dedicated community activist, who once again went out of her way to ensure all ran smoothly on the day. Great to catch up with my wee pal, Ami Paterson from Ardrossan, too!
Councillor Davina McTiernan and Councillor Jean McClung SNP were also in attendance and had a fab time too at this wonderful community event.
