IMPLICATIONS FOR SCOTLAND OF LEAVING THE EU

Today I led a debate for the SNP on the implications for Scotland of leaving the EU.

The generally accepted consensus is that the consequences of Brexit for Scotland will be economically damaging.

Brexit will have a damaging effect on Scotland’s vital interests both at home and abroad and due to Scotland’s voice in the democratically elected Scottish Parliament being completely ignored, the devolution settlement has been cast aside. The sovereign people of Scotland – who voted by a significant majority to remain in the EU – is having her voice drowned out by Tory in-fighting and plotting.

However, our continued membership of the Single Market and the Customs Union is essential to our future prosperity.
