BREXIT AND THE SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT

Last night I raised a Point of Order with the Speaker about the U.K. Government refusing to protect time to debate the U.K. Government’s profound alteration of the devolution settlement against the expressed democratic will of the elected Scottish Parliament.

Only 19 minutes was allocated to this very important matter overturning the fundamental principles of devolution agreed 20 years ago. Only one Tory Minister was permitted to speak. SNP MPs voted to reject the U.K. Government’s power grab from Holyrood. Labour, as so often is the case on key issues pertaining to Scotland, abstained.
