I really enjoyed my visit this week to McTaggart Construction site in Saltcoats where house building is underway, to celebrate Scottish Apprenticeship Week which ran from 5th-9th March.

The apprentices I met on site were impressive advocates for their chosen fields of construction, plumbing and joinery.

Scotland’s new generation of trainees in a whole range of areas will have an extremely positive impact on Scotland’s economy.

This year's theme is 'Apprenticeships are the Business', showing how important they are to industries across the country.

And now with three different kinds of apprenticeship in Scotland – Foundation, Modern and Graduate – an apprenticeship could be the right option for you.

All apprenticeships are designed to help you learn by doing – you’ll get hands-on work experience with an employer and a qualification too.

Well worth celebrating!
