Largs Viking Festival 2017

LARGS VIKING FESTIVAL 2017

Once again it was a real treat this year to attend the Largs Viking Festival with Kenneth Gibson MSP. As always for this festival, the weather was kind.

It attracts so many visitors to the lovely town of Largs and this year seemed busier than ever with the usual wonderful period costumes and the authentic Viking Village where visitors can all about Viking clothes, weapons, jewellery and food.

I was delighted to bump into old friends and new, participate in the parade and see the whole town mark the Battle of Largs in 1263, the last time Viking invaders fought on UK soil.

It was a pleasure to meet up with Professor Magnus Fladmark of Robert Gordon University, Patron of the Festival since 2008, local stalwart, Stuart Rumble, David and Marian Francis, Helen Fulton Rumbold, Anne Carson, James Stewart, young Callum Stewart and Isle of Cumbrae Soaps with Amanda Stewart.
