Three Towns Growers Allotment and Community Garden Open Day

THREE TOWNS GROWERS ALLOTMENT AND COMMUNITY GARDEN OPEN DAY
It was a real treat to attend the Three Towns Growers Allotment Open Day last weekend in Elm Park Allotments, Ardrossan.
This site has only been open for 18 months but feels embedded into the heart of the community already.
The day featured its first ever vegetable show for plot holders at the site and trophies were hotly contested on the day.
There were also craft stalls, a produce sale, bric-a-brac, face painting, tombola and a whole feast of other treats for all ages, young and not so young.
The fruit, veg and flowers on show demonstrated the enthusiasm and green-fingered talents of the plot holders who were delighted to welcome visitors to the open day and pass on growing tips and samples of their successes.
Thank you to Marie Paterson-Kidd and the whole Committee for their hard work. We had a lovely chat with Mary & Michael Beveridge and Kenneth Gibson MSP, Councillor Davina McTiernan SNP , Councillor Jean McClung SNP and I really enjoyed the day, as the pictures make clear! Good to see community stalwart, Michael McCulloch there too.
