Celebrating the Bi-Centenary of Beith Townhouse

CELEBRATING THE BI-CENTENARY OF BEITH TOWNHOUSE

There was a real carnival and community atmosphere in Beith today as celebrations took place in honour of the foundation stone of Beith Townhouse being laid on this very day 200 years ago.

This iconic building is woven into the heart of the town's history and so many local reside to turned up to join in the parade from the Community Garden to the Townhouse itself where we were treated to a whistle-stop tour of the history of this important building.

The period costumes were excellent and pupils from Beith Primary School lent a hand by donning period costume as well. Light refreshments were served where all could enjoy a good blether.

Thanks must go to Beith Cultural and Heritage Society who have done so much work in ensuring this important building retains its importance in Beith and who organised today's events.

A real treat and a very interesting morning!
