SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT BACKS ARDROSSAN TO BRODICK FERRY ROUTE
Today the Scottish Government announced that, despite the predatory bid by Associated British Ports in Troon, the Arran ferry will continue to operate from Ardrossan.
The campaign to save this route galvanised the whole of North Aryshire and one in which I was privileged to be involved.
This is a victory for common sense since Ardrossan to Brodick is the cheapest, shortest and fastest route and now there will be significant investment by Peel Ports in Ardrossan.
The final decision was made on the bases of Connectivity, Reliability, Overall Operational Cost to the Public Purse and Socio-Economic factors.
The Scottish Government today reaffirmed that it is "committed to supporting our lifeline ferry links and ensuring that the Arran ferry service is fit for purpose, whilst also getting the best value for the public purse”.
