Closure of Clydesdale Bank Branches in Beith and Saltcoats
I am deeply concerned about plans to close Clydesdale Bank Branches in Beith and Saltcoats.
Plans to move Beith customers to branches in Paisley - 12.7 miles away - and to move Saltcoats customers to Irvine - 8.9 miles away - is most unsatisfactory for those who are elderly and/or those who rely on public transport.
Many people have not made the transition to online banking and others choose not to do so for a variety of reasons. These closures do not take account of these customers.
I am also deeply concerned about what this will mean for our towns and the staff who work in these banks.
I have raised these matters directly with the Chief Executive Officer of the Clydesdale Bank, David Duffy.
I will be meeting with management at the Clydesdale Bank very soon to discuss these matters of concern to our communities and will update constituents soon.
