First Minister Opens Saltcoats Town Hall

On Monday 14 March, Saltcoats Town Hall was officially reopened by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, following a £3.77million refurbishment.

The refurbishment owes a great deal to the efforts of local people who were at the heart of this project. In particular the financial support from the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund, which provided £1.1million. The investment will help to further transform the town centre, stimulate economic growth and encourage job creation. The project also received a grant of £125,000 from Historic Scotland, with the remaining £2.5million having been committed by North Ayrshire Council to secure the building's future.

It is expected that the main hall in the regenerated building will be used for civic functions and weddings, with the smaller hall being utilised for wedding ceremonies, with rooms for brides and grooms to ready themselves ahead of the big day.
