Access to Employment for Disabled People

On Tuesday 12 January 2016, Patricia took part in a debate regarding access to jobs for disabled people.

As the number of disabled people living in poverty increases, it is vitally important that we do all we can to help disabled people back to work. Unfortunately, instead of focussing on this, the UK Government is wasting hundreds of millions of pounds assessing people who have no chance of being fit for work due to serious long-term illness or chronic disability.

The cost of Disability Benefit Assessments have doubled to £579 million a year - meaning the average cost of each assessment has risen to £190!
